ITS Online handles 1.1 Billion Market Feed Messages in Record Day for Canadian Equities Trading

For the first time in its history, ITS Online processed over 1 billion market feed messages during trading hours on the Canadian equities marketplaces today, a 20% increase from 2021. It’s been a busy start to the new year!

When Integrated Transaction Systems was founded in 1998, the peak message volume handled was 78,000 messages in one day, all from the TSX which was the only equities marketplace that existed in 1998.

ITS Online now consumes and processes feeds from all the marketplaces provided by the TMX Group, the Canadian Securities Exchange, Nasdaq Canada, Aequitas, MATCHNow, and Tradeloqic. Trading volumes across these marketplaces have been steadily increasing with peak volumes as little as 300 million just 4 years ago.
